The series’ humorous character creation system, based on a police artist’s impressions, also returns in this compelling brawler, and even though it’s not as slick as Tekken: Dark Resurrection, The Takeover is still a solid choice for gloves-off, PSP fisticuffs. Conversely, anyone quick enough on the buttons can use the game’s enhanced counter moves to turn the tables and deflect attacks, making for thrilling, fluid battles when two equally-matched opponents step into the fray. Rounding out the solid packaging of Fight for New York with basic-but-fun multiplayer options for The Takeover is simply icing on the cake. More than 35 hip-hop artists and personalities-including Busta Rhymes, Carmen Electra, Lil Kim, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, Sean Paul, Slick Rick, and Snoop Dogg-face off in brutal wrestling matches. Def Jam Fight for New York was one of the greatest wrestling/fighting games of the current-gen, and simply porting it intact with a couple extra moves seems enough to produce a fine game on PSP.
